There's a reason that Maine is called "Vacationland": Each year, thousands of visitors from all over the world come in droves to the New England state to enjoy outdoor activities, scenic vistas, and the unhurried pace of life. But a visit to Maine is more than just lobsters and lighthouses. Whether you want to climb a mountain, speed across a frozen lake on a snowmobile or bask in the sun on a sandy beach, Maine has something for everyone. Probably the town with the most name recognition is Kennebunkport. Kennebunkport is known for three things, seafood, the water, and the Bush family. The Bush family has made this quaint little town their home each summer. It was known as The Second White House when the elder Bush was President. Here you can enjoy water sports of all kinds, whale watching, or spending time browsing the art galleries and small boutiques in town. If you would like to camp but aren’t up for roughing it, try and look into glamping at Sandy Pines Campground! Maine is also home to Acadia National Park where you can do many amazing outdoor activities, including, fishing, biking, hiking, camping, and taking in all the spectacular sights. Acadia is spectacularly beautiful all year round but it is said that Autumn is its peak of beauty! On to one of the important activities in Maine, eating lobster rolls and all things seafood. Maine makes up 90% of all Lobsters in the U.S. Another fun fact is that Maine is known for the largest crop of wild blueberries in any state. This is definitely a foodie destination for people who love to explore different delicious foods!
